We are seeking your input on the transition out of Appendix K service flexibilities!
We have recently learned that Maryland may end some of the flexibilities that were granted through the Appendix K sooner than expected and The DD Coalition is engaging with state officials to provide information and propose solutions to how certain elements of the Appendix K might be unwound/ended carefully, what should become permanent process and service changes, and what elements are no longer needed.
Share Your Story on July 26
The Arc Maryland and SDAN invite Marylanders with IDD and their families to join us on Monday, July 26, for a virtual Appendix K Listening Session from 5 to 6 PM.
The purpose of the Input and Listening Session is to gather feedback to share with Maryland’s Secretary of Health, Dennis Schrader, DDA Deputy Secretary Bernie Simons, and their staff. We want to ensure there is an understanding of the continued needs of people with IDD and their families at this time. Additionally, we will propose solutions to ensure the health and safety of people and the stability of our service systems.
How have Appendix K flexibilities supported you or a loved one during the pandemic? What obstacles are you facing in re-entering the community? What solutions would you propose for the safe resumption of pre-pandemic levels of support and services? Tune in and let us know on the 26th!
