The Arc National Center on Criminal Justice and Disability will be presenting a series of webinars entitled 2017 Policing People with Disabilities. The series will be aimed at educating law enforcement, criminal justice professionals, individuals with disabilities, family members, and advocates about the discrimination and violence that individuals with disabilities face within the criminal justice system and what we can do to address this issue.
Topics addressed include intersections that increase implicit bias and discrimination toward people with disabilities, how the media portrays stories of police misconduct, an overview of police misconduct toward people with disabilities and people of color with disabilities, and how the criminal justice system can be held accountable.
The first webinar will be hosted on January 19, from 1 to 3 pm. For more information and to register for the webinar, click here.
