Job Description
The Arc Maryland is the largest statewide advocacy organization dedicated to the rights and quality of life of persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families. The Arc Maryland seeks a Project Manager to join our small, dynamic team in our Columbia, MD office. The Project Manager will have primary responsibility for the Partners in Policymaking® grant-based program and will also be an important part of our other organizational projects and events. The Partners in Policymaking program prepares adults with IDD and family members of children and adults with IDD to be effective advocates at the local, state, and federal levels. The Project Manager will have a role in the non-profit’s priority initiatives in fulfilment of our mission to create a world where children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities have and enjoy equal rights and opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Manage grant project relationships with our partners and stakeholders.
- Write grant proposals and final grant reports in collaboration with team members.
- Coordinate with team members and other partners for the flawless execution of projects.
- Create and maintain a detailed project plan and comprehensive project documentation system to monitor & track progress.
- Perform quality control on the project throughout the development to maintain the standards expected.
- Follow-up and follow through on each portion of the project is essential.
- Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule and project costs using appropriate verification techniques.
- Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget.
- Meet budgetary objectives and make adjustments to project constraints based on financial analysis.
- Measure project performance, specifically to analyze the successful completion of short and long-term goals using appropriate tools and techniques including spreadsheets, diagrams, and process maps to document successes, outcomes, and needs.
- Communicate with stakeholders to keep project aligned with organization goals.
- Perform a wide variety of tasks that are in-line with The Arc Maryland Mission including, but not limited to, Empowering Partners Network, Together We’re Better School Inclusion Program, Annual Convention, Annual Awards Program, DD Day at the Legislature, Annual Legislative Calendar Day.
Knowledge and Skills Required
- Experience managing projects from start to finish.
- Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (excellent phone, email, documentation & Zoom etiquette) and editing skills.
- Solid organizational skills including excellent attention to detail and multitasking skills.
- Ability to work as a team player.
- Have critical thinking skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to adjust. Adaptability to change, environment, and audience.
- Ability to meet deadlines, and ability to create systems to help others meet deadlines.
- Solution-oriented: Have problem-solving skills.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel, Word, and Power Point. Experience with the Zoom platform a plus, but will train.
- Prefer tech savviness, or if you are not tech savvy, you must be willing to learn.
- Prefer candidate to have knowledge and experience of the IDD disability field; Ability to relate to parents, people with IDD, and community partners for information and advocacy.
- Requires a minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in appropriate field of study required with related work experience.
- Schedule flexibility: Hours are typically 9:00 am-5:00 pm. However, employee will be needed for special events, Partners in Policymaking program, and other organizational priorities. Some evenings and weekends required. Possible virtual tele-work opportunities for certain days of the week, as determined by needs of the non-profit and balance of the team.
- Position requires lifting, bending, pushing, and pulling for event set up. (day of logistics, set up and execution as member of a team)
- Reliable personal transportation for work-related travel and organizational needs/duties. Mileage is reimbursed for interwork travel.
- Require evidence of COVID vaccination.
